Adventures In Baby-Sitting!

Luke chooses a perfect apple

Brian drives the mini-van with four smiling children
A few weekends ago we undertook a great challenge...4 kids, for 12 hours, five and under (two in diapers). We actually had a wonderful time babysitting our nephews and niece and took them to Greenbluff farms where we picked apples and bought farm fresh peaches. We headed back to their house for peach milkshakes, some backyard football, rough housing in the basements, pizza dinner and bedtime stories. Maggie did try to poke Kellen's eyes out, and Nolan didn't go right to sleep, but other then that the only crying came from Kellen, so not too shabby. We might not quite be ready for four full time, and we actually can't imagine doing it solo, but you never know :)

A Week with Nani and Daddy Jim

Kellen gets early music training from Daddy Jim

Brian was so kind to suggest Kellen and I spend a week in Everett during my materinity leave. It was great bonding time for Nani and Daddy Jim, as well as Great Grandma Hazel who visited almost everyday. We also got to see cousin Elle before she headed off to Australia, Chris before he went back to Tenessee, Andrew, Bumpa and Grammy and our good family friends the Wertheimers. It was a busy and fun week with my family and I was fortunate to get that time.

We flew down to visit Uncle Bill and Mike at the beginning of October and Brian did the Mt. Diablo bike race. The race climbs approximately 3,500 ft and he trained for the ride all winter, we were so proud of him. We were anxious about flying with a baby, but Kellen was perfect. He literally did not make a peep on the flight. We are very excited and now planning our next trip as a family. Bill and Mike were wonderful hosts and they didn't seem to mind their home being taken over with dirty diapers, crying in the middle of the night, or the blowout on their back patio by the pool :) Mom and Dad also flew down and stayed at Bill and Mikes so the house was quite full, but coudn't have been more fun.

Bumpa works his magic with Kellen

We truly had the best summer yet! The incredible blessing of our new baby son, a wonderful vacation for ten days on Whidbey Island with our entire family, and many great weekends at Loon Lake. We always feel summer is too short, but it was so fun filled and action packed we couldn't have asked for anything more. Our ten days on Whidbey included our entire Southern California family, and was the first trip and plane flight for Kaiya and Matty. Kellen was wonderful on his first rode trip as well. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and beautiful place to spend time together!
